YouVersion

Are you like me and have a hard time reading books? Has this affected your desire to read the Bible regularly? For a long time I struggled with reading my Bible. It's always something I knew I should do as a Christian and I really wanted to develop the habit of doing it everyday, but it was really a struggle for me. I have never been much of a book reader. Only recently have I gotten better about it. In fact I think I've read more books in this last year than I have my whole life. I faked my way through school with the books I was supposed to read. It's just always been hard for me to concentrate on one concrete object that doesn't change or let me interact with it. I guess it's my generation that's used to being "entertained" by television and the internet. So sadly it spilled over into reading the Bible.

I downloaded YouVersion, a great free Bible app from lifechurch.tv when I first got my iPhone about a year and a half ago, but never really used it. But I started using it more the end of this last year, and am now using the daily Bible reading plan this year. All you do is click on the verses that it lays out and it takes you right there. It is totally perfect for me. I find it so much easier to read on my phone than in book format. It's probably because I do most of my reading on a computer anyway with news websites, forums, blogs, etc., so it kind of felt natural to read the Bible this way. You have to scroll through the verses while you read, so it helps me to focus instead of holding a book and my eyes scanning the pages.

I encourage you if you're anything like me and have struggled with reading the Bible regularly, give this a try. It's free and easy to use, brought to you by the technical geniouses at lifechurch.tv. If you have an iPhone or iPod touch, free app in the apps store. They also have versions for PC and Mac to download. Dig it.
